Nigerian Hip Hop artiste, Banji Oladapo, popularly called Dbanj on Wednesday took a swipe at music record label owners in Nigeria.

Also called the Kokomaster, Dbanj who turned into one of the panelist discussing the topic, ‘Changing The Game: Artistes As Leaders’ on the 2018 Social Media Week Lagos, said song record label CEO in Nigeria recognise nothing about the music business.

He said similarly that one of the demanding situations confronting the growth of Nigerian Music Industry is that Nigerian artistes lack ability building.

“Most of the new generation record labels are founded through Yahoo boys. You have to recognize first, why are you coming into music.

“Nigerian artistes need loads of capability building. It is only in Nigeria that the owner of a record label doesn’t recognise anything about music.”

The Oliver Twist crooner also explained how he ventured into music, attributing it to the worry of poverty.

According to him, being a brand is not a day activity it’s miles a each day and deliberate attempt that includes evolving.

“Just like any product, you should continually evolve. The fear of being poor made me think out of doors the field. This is one of the factors that drove me into music,” he stated.

Also known as Eja Nla (Big Fish) by means of his lovers, Dbanj is ready to swim within the virtual space wherein he believes the future lies.

He referred to those commercial owners and investors to promote Nigerian song via collaborations and partnership.

Dbanj rose to prominence at the imprint of Mo’Hits record label which commenced in 2004, founded by Don Jazzy.

The label could grow to have a team comprising of, further to Don Jazzy and D’Banj, Wande Coal, Dr. Sid, K-Switch, Ikechukwu and D’Prince.

It, but, collapsed to the annoyance of lovers whilst Dbanj and Don Jazzy painfully break up in 2012 over internal disagreements.

Dbanj later started out his very own record label, DB records.
