Lewis Hamilton fighting off £3.5 million legal battle after ‘abandoning Grenada love nest’

The British racing champion is reportedly fighting a legal war with an Italian builder over the pricey custom-built home, believed to have been a love nest designed for ex-girlfriend Nicole Scherzinger.

It’s alleged that the lavish five-bedroom villa was planned by the Formula One ace with the X Factor judge in mind before their split last year.

However, the 30-year-old is said to have ditched the property last February when he and the former Pussycat Doll called time on their relationship.

The decision meant that developer Bernardo Bertucci has been left with a specially-built home, which he claims has been unoccupied for quite some time because it has been too difficult to sell.

Bernardo is believed to have launched legal action against the sportsman in an effort to win back some of the money he had spent on the property to ensure it met Lewis’ plush requirements.

Despite being equipped with all the latest mod cons, the property developer has claimed that Lewis’ specific changes have turned off prospective buyers.

The opulent pad boasts a specially built recording studio, private gym, gourmet kitchen and a sunset lounge area.

It’s also claimed the mansion has its own private jetty which looks out across the “best views in the Caribbean”.

The Calabria-born investor, who owns a cluster of villas on the sun-soaked island, told the The Sun: “I didn’t want to take legal action but it is very difficult for me to sell a personalised villa like this.”

He stated that Hamilton, who won the first part of the case in the Grenada Supreme Court last year, did not “behave correctly” with him.

It’s alleged that Lewis is currently trying to fight off an appeal by Bernardo, who explained that their deal was agreed to over email and without a deposit from the racing pro.

Bernardo added: “I met him personally and he was very excited about the villa. He told me that when he finished racing he wanted to live a quiet and relaxing life in Grenada, where his father was originally from.”
