7 Games To Play While Social Distancing – Even If There’s No Power

Even if you love to stay indoors all the time, it’s not as much fun when you have to do it by necessity. While we understand that social distancing is for our own good, it can get boring sometimes.

If you’re stuck observing social distancing with family, friends, or even flatmates, here are some games you can play. You don’t even need power to play these games:

1. Sudoku

Remember the Sudoku game on your Nokia 3310 phone? It’s still a pretty cool game to play. Sudoku is a number placement game where you have to fill a grid of nine rows and columns with the numbers one to nine. When the grid is completed, each number must not appear twice in any row or column.

If you don’t have a Sudoku book, you can download the app on any device you own.

2. TikTok Dances

TikTok is becoming more and more popular in Nigeria, and this is a good time for you to explore the app. There are a number of TikTok challenges and dances to occupy your time.

Who knows? Your videos could even go viral.

3. Board Games

You probably haven’t played a board game in years, right? There are so many options with board games. You can play Scrabble, Monopoly, Ludo, chess, etc.

Board games are fun, especially if you’re social distancing with a full house. They usually take a while to complete, so that’s a plus.

4. Charades

Charades is not a popular game in Nigeria, but you must have seen it played in a few Western movies. Charades is a word guessing game that’s usually played in teams.

A player has to act out the words to a phrase without saying it aloud, and the team gets points only when the other teammate correctly gets it. This is a really, really fun game, and you should try it out tonight! No equipment is needed.

5. Catchphrase

This is another fun game, and it’s quite similar to Charades. There are a number of free Catchphrase apps on the Play Store and App Store. To play the game, a player tries to explain a word or phrase to his/her team without actually saying the word. Each team strives to get as many points as they can before the buzzer goes off.

My friends and I like to play this game during our pre-social distancing sleepovers, and it’s always a huge hit.

6. Card games

You’ve been playing too much Candy Crush. Play a card game today and remember how fun it was to end the game by saying this – ‘Pick three, general market, last card, and check up!’

7. Jigsaw puzzles

For jigsaw puzzles, the bigger and more complicated they are, the more fun it is. If this post is reminding you of that jigsaw puzzle you’ve got hidden somewhere, then go on and dust off your puzzle box.

How have you been coping with the social distancing measures?
