We’re off! United get us underway, attacking from left to right.
  • The two sides are making their way out onto the pitch, with just a few minutes to go until kick-off.
  • Meanwhile, United boss Jose Mourinho has made four alterations to the team that featured in their last outing, with Ashley Young, Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard and Wayne Rooney making way for Antonio Valencia, Michael Carrick, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Marcus Rashford.
  • Pep Guardiola has decided to make three changes to the City side that started the defeat against Arsenal on the weekend, with Pablo Zabaleta, Aleksandar Kolarov and Raheem Sterling coming into the starting line-up to replace Jesus Navas, Gael Clichy and David Silva, respectively.
  • Manchester United substitutes: Romero, Tuanzebe, Fosu-Mensah, Shaw, Young, Lingard, Rooney.
  • Manchester United XI (4-3-3): De Gea; Valencia, Bailly, Blind, Darmian; Herrera, Carrick, Fellaini; Mkhitaryan, Rashford, Martial.

  • Manchester City XI (4-2-3-1): Bravo; Zabaleta, Kompany, Otamendi, Kolarov; Toure, Fernandinho; Sterling, De Bruyne, Sane; Aguero.
  • There’s just over 15 minutes left to go until kick-off, so let’s have a look at how the two teams will be lining up this evening…
  • After a slight period of City dominance between April 2012 and November 2014, United have won three of the last five meetings between the two sides, with City only managing to taste victory once during that time. That did come in September’s meeting at Old Trafford, however, with Kevin De Bruyne and Kelechi Iheanacho both hitting the back of the net in the first half to guide their side to their fourth win in as many games during what was an excellent start to the season.
  • As for United, they too have underperformed but nonetheless head into tonight’s derby feeling slightly better about themselves. An EFL Cup victory could be followed by success in the Europa League if they continue to impress in the competition, but all their attention this evening will be on trying to get one over their rivals. If they’re able to leave with a fourth win in as many games, it’ll move them above City and into the fourth spot that they crave so desperately.
  • Pep Guardiola’s first season in England is almost certain to go down as a disappointment after he failed to win any silverware with a City side that, despite dazzling on a few occasions, has largely failed to live up to expectations. Sunday’s narrow defeat against Arsenal sent them crashing out of the FA Cup, meaning that a third-place finish now represents the height of their hopes heading into the final stretch of the campaign.
  • The stakes couldn’t be higher in the third and final Manchester derby of the campaign, with both teams frantically fighting for a place in next season’s Champions League. City currently sit in fourth place thanks to their comfortable 3-0 win away to Southampton one and a half weeks ago, but they remain just one point ahead of their local rivals, who have won all of their last three Premier League games and are without a defeat in the competition since October.
  • Good evening and welcome to our live text commentary of today’s Premier League game between Manchester City and Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium.
