Retired Bayern Munich skipper Philipp Lahm won the German Footballer of the Year grant without precedent for his profession.
Lahm resigned from football toward the finish of the season two months prior, having won the Bundesliga once more with Bayern Munich.
The honor is controlled by German football magazine kicker, and votes originate from the individuals from the Association of German Sports Journalists. Lahm won 242 votes, in front of Real Madrid’s Toni Kroos (192) and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (120) of Borussia Dortmund.
Lahm stated: “It’s a genuine respect and I’m really satisfied with it. I think the writers in the vote have watched me for my whole vocation.
“History demonstrates that it is staggeringly intense for a safeguard to be named Footballer of the Year in light of the fact that through the span of a year there is ordinarily dependably a forward who takes the features in advance.”
Lahm won the Champions League, eight Bundesligas and six DFB glasses over his profession with Bayern Munich.
