Sweden are setting off to the World Cup finals in Russia to the detriment of four-time champions Italy after a stalemate at the San Siro.
It was an Italian surge in the second half with chances coming thick and quick.
Yet, the guests hung tight, leaving Jakob Johansson’s solitary strike in the principal leg enough to send the Swedes through to one year from now’s competition.
This is the first run through since 1958, and the second time in their history, that Italy has neglected to fit the bill for football’s blue riband occasion.
