Fielding questions from Punch, the institution’s National Director of Information, Sunday Okereafor, said MASSOB must discover a way of protective its human beings in the face of unprovoked attacks from Fulani herdsmen.
Okereafor said, “Forget what they may be pronouncing; it’s miles the equal plot. From sharia, grazing invoice to cattle colonies and now to army livestock ranches, we’ve got what it takes to guard our human beings.
“We can not be in church buildings and our homes and allow any person to come and kill us there. Whether grazing invoice, cattle colonies or military cattle ranches, they’re all the identical.
“What will happen is that once the Fulani herdsmen kill, they’ll run to the barracks for protection. But we recognize a way to protect ourselves.
“We should defend ourselves. The Igbo should defend themselves because the navy, the army and the police can’t guard them.”
He recalled that Fulani herdsmen attacked farmers in Ohafia, Abia State, Nimbo in Enugu State and in Ozubulu in Anambra State within the past.
Okereafor lamented that no one were arrested since the massacre in Benue State, even if the killers gave untenable reasons for invading groups in the nation.
He added, “Britain has cows; they don’t have military livestock ranches; Canada additionally has cows, they don’t have army cattle ranches. Even Ghana has farm animals, but they’ve in no way pointed out navy livestock ranches.”
