PDP, Caretaker Committee Deputy Chairman, Imo State, Sir Martins Ejiogu, Sunday in Owerri, disclosed that the leadership crisis rocking the party would soon be over as stakeholders across the country are working assiduously to resolve the imbroglio.
However, he condemned the position held by some party members in the leadership crisis and cautioned such leaders to stop fueling the ember of disunity in the party.
Addressing newsmen at the party secretariat along Okigwe road, Owerri, Sir Ejiogu said in a family there must be disagreement but “what is important is the ability to resolve various differences.”
He said as a democratic party, the PDP has been built over the years, adding that no single individual could destabilise it for selfish reasons.
He also condemned the comment attributed to Senator Hope Uzodinma, representing Imo West in Orlu Senatorial zone, insinuating that the delegates list which ought to have been used for the Port Harcourt congress was manipulated.
According to him, it would be wrong for leaders to, “deceptively lure gullible and uninformed followers of the party to their folds,” adding that Senator Uzodinma’s stance was capable of destabilising the party.
His words: “Frank and positive thought process would have informed Senator Uzodinma that he should not have singled himself out in the Senator Ali Modu-Sheriff and Senator Ahmed Makarfi power tussle.

“PDP has 49 senators and as such the leadership imbroglio would not have rested on Senator Uzodinma alone. It is therefore an unmitigated disaster for him to play the ostrich,” he contended.
On the issue of Imo State’s botched congress, Sir Ejiogu said, “it is no longer business as usual as power has returned to the people.
“The PDP has resolved to take power back to the people. Some leaders’ plan to manipulate the congress result for personal and selfish interest was totally rejected and unacceptable.”
Ejiogu therefore called for the restructuring and strengthening of the party in line with delivering real democratic dividend to the people. He condemned in its entirety all overture to deceive the people and destabilise the party both at the state and national levels while expressing total solidarity to the National Caretaker Committee Chairman led by Senator Makarfi.
