Jorge Sampaoli, an Argentine, has been fired by Sevilla, who are now two points above the La League relegation zone.
The 63-year-old ex-coach of Chile and Argentina began his second managerial tenure with Sevilla in October.
They are now ranked 14th in the standings after losing five of their last seven games.
They will play Manchester United over two legs in the Europa League quarterfinals, though, after reaching that round.
With 12 games remaining, Sampaoli’s team has 28 points after losing 2-0 to fellow strugglers Getafe in his final game in command.
On Saturday, 1 April, they play their first match following the international break against 15th-placed Cadiz.
