Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has shared his opinion on the greatest of all time (GOAT) debate involving football superstars Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
The debate over who is the greatest between the Argentine and the Portuguese has captivated the football world for years, and Klopp has now revealed his favorite.
Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi have both dominated football for over a decade, with Messi’s World Cup win and Ballon d’Or achievements possibly giving him an edge. The Argentine legend has now won back-to-back Copa America titles, making him the most decorated football star of all time with 45 major trophies.
Jurgen Klopp responded to the GOAT question via WION. He said:
“The greatest footballer in my lifetime, Lionel Messi, the way he plays football in this age should give us all a hint at how long footballers can perform at the top level.
We shouldn’t close the books too early. It was a joy to watch him.”
