[News] : Reps say N145 fuel pump price “fraudulent”

The House of Representatives on Monday, critized the present valuing arrangement of premium engine soul by the Petroleum Products Price Regulatory Agency (PPPRA), depicting it as “false”.

The officials demanded that Nigerians ought not purchase petrol for more than N70 per liter.

The contentions were campaigned when an impromptu board of the House on the Review of Pump Price of Petrol, opened an open hearing at the National Assembly in Abuja.

The PPPRA, Nigerian Ports Authority and Nigerian Customs Service authorities were all tested by the advisory group.

“In the 2017 spending plan, which is before us, PPPRA has a proposition of another N500m for direction, checking and supply of petrol,” Chairman of the advisory group, Nnana Igbokwe said.

“This budgetary arrangements have effectively dealt with the reason for which you charge 30k on the format, yet Nigerians keep on bearing the weight by paying N145 per liter,” Igbokwe included.

“This has left Nigerians in a circumstance whereby regardless they pay for helping administrations for littler vessels that go to Cotonou or Lome to offload items from mother vessels.

“PPPRA will then add the cost to the pump cost and request that Nigerians pay,” Igbokwe included.
