Although Arsenal have made three signings so far this summer, securing deals for Granit Xhaka, Takuma Asano and Rob Holding, it appears that their transfer activity is far from over.

Manager Arsene Wenger has stated that the club are on the lookout for a new centre-back and an additional attacking option.
The Gunners’ failure to bring in an established striker has been a major source of frustration for many of the club’s supporters, and it is hoped that this issue will be rectified before the new season gets underway.
On that note, here’s a round-up of the latest news surrounding the club.
Arsenal are set to make an improved offer of £35 million for Alexandre Lacazette as they attempt to sign the Lyon forward. The Gunners had an initial offer of £29.3 million rejected for the Frenchman, and Lyon are hugely reluctant to sell Lacazette, who scored 23 goals in all competitions last season.

An offer of £50 million would be enough to secure a deal for Icardi. Inter would ideally like to retain the services of their captain, although they may well be tempted to sell should they receive a significant bid. Icardi scored 16 goals in 30 games for Inter in all competitions last season. (Daily Star)
Shkodran Mustafi is eager to join Arsenal and an offer of £25 million may prove sufficient to sign the Valencia centre-back. Arsenal are short of options at the heart of the defence after Per Mertesacker was ruled out for several months with injury, and Wenger has identified Mustafi as a solution to the problem.

Mertesacker has thanked supporters for their get well soon messages as he begins his recovery from injury, with the German joking that having his knee “pimped” will enable him to score 20 goals a season. It emerged that the defender had suffered the problem after playing the entirety of Arsenal’s opening pre-season friendly against Lens.
