Barcelona in pole position to sign Leicester star Riyad Mahrez [Mundo Deportivo]

Has N’Golo Kante started a Leicester exodus?
Almost as soon as it became clear that N’Golo Kante would be leaving Leicester for Chelsea, rumours began around The Foxes other key player: Riyad Mahrez.

Leicester’s star striker Jamie Vardy decided to knock back the advances of Arsenal to stay with Claudio Ranieri’s side but Kante’s move to Chelsea was confirmed on Saturday.

This leaves one star man left and the indications surrounding Mahrez’s future are not good from a Leicester perspective.

Barcelona in pole position to sign Riyad Mahrez
On Saturday, France Football confirmed that Mahrez has rejected a new contract offer from Leicester and is looking to move on this summer.

Whilst Claudio Ranieri has publicly claimed that Mahrez will stay at the club, FF report that the Algerian schemer is looking to move on in the coming weeks.

Mahrez’s contract at Leicester is until June 2019 which puts the attacking midfielder in a fairly strong position.

Mahrez & Messi?
A subsequent article in Mundo Deportivo suggests that Barcelona are the most likely club to sign Mahrez.

They report that Mahrez knows of Barcelona’s interest and that there have already been indirect talks between his representatives and those of the Catalan giants.

Mundo Deportivo see Mahrez’s rejection of a new Leicester contract as more or less a “come and get me” plea to Barcelona…
