Back in July, Bobby Shmurda hinted at his eventual release from prison in 2020 during a phone interview with This Is 50while still incarcerated. The Brooklyn rapper’s mother, Leslie Pollard, has now indicated that she also expects her son to be released by the holiday season of 2020.
“One of those mornings but the time is ticking 25 months he will be here soon…..Can’t wait til Thursday to kiss his face,” Pollard wrote in an Instagram post Tuesday (Oct. 2).
The GS9 member was originally arrested in Dec. 2014 outside Manhattan’s Quad Studios following a long-term investigation of his crew.
Judges denied Shmurda’s request to withdraw his guilty plea on fourth-degree conspiracy to criminally possess a weapon and second-degree criminal weapons possession charges, where he was then sentenced to spend the next six to seven years behind bars in Oct. 2016.
Despite the lengthy sentence, TMZ reported in April that Shmurda will be up for parole in Dec. 2020 after a successful August hearing, since he is being credited with nearly two years in time served. However, his tab of violations during his incarceration could hinder his road to freedom.
