Today marks the official beginning of Champions League football this season with the group stage draw set to take place later today in Montecarlo, Monaco.
Gazzetta dello Sport have taken a look at all the new implementations for this year’s competition that sees Inter make their long awaited return.
From this year onward, the top four teams in the top four leagues all gained automatic group stage places in the competition, which is worth more money to clubs than ever before.
New kick-off times are to be introduced and in addition to this clubs can now add three new players to their squad lists in January, even players who have already played in the competition this season.
In the latter stages of the competition, where extra time rules apply, clubs can now make a fourth subsitution and finally, for the Champions League final, clubs will also be able to have 12 players on their bench.
