With the famous uprise in the interest for African sounds, numerous Nigerian artistes have tried harder in their journey to break into the global market. During the 2010s, Nigerian music industry has recorded enormous triumphs with astounding joint efforts with American and European acts.
Days prior, Pulse NG discharged their main 10 best artistes of the decade.
Their criteria were on business achievement, sway, discography, basic praise, grants and worldwide recognition (as an additional bit of leeway). Motolani Alake of Pulse NG incorporated the rundown giving out the main spot to Starboy Entertainment Boss Wizkid. According to Pulse NG, the main 10 most hottest artistes during the 2010s are
-
10. Yemi Alade
-
9. Phyno
-
8. Tiwa Savage
-
7. Sinach
-
6. 2baba
-
5. Burna Boy
-
4. Psquare
-
3. Davido
-
2. Olamide
-
1. Wizkid
Despite the fact Davido has the lowest numbers in terms of his discography; he has actually surpassed Wizkid and Olamide in other criteria. The DMW boss has single handedly groomed an artiste in Mayorkun to shut down his first show in London. That’s an impact Wizkid and Olamide cannot boast of in the last decade.
Davido has over 152 million views on a single video “Fall”, that’s almost a half of Wizkid’s all time views on Youtube (391,643,001 views). He is the first Nigerian to hit 2 million views in less than 24 hours and the First Nigerian to receive BET awards on the live main stage only to mention but a few.
Davido popped to fame after releasing “Dami Duro”, the second single from his debut studio album Omo Baba Olowo (2012) a year after Wizkid’s debut hit “Holla at your boy”. Despite the difference in age and a year advantage, Davido has effortlessly worked his way to the top, bagged several awards, and made a huge impact including his friendship with football star Cristiano Ronaldo. Wizkid has been great over the past ten years, but Davido is obviously the artiste of the decade.
