Gov. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has showed the outbreak of Lassa Fever inside the state, saying laboratory test have showed a total of 36 cases, which includes 9 deaths.
Akeredolu, who made the revelation in Akure during a livestream broadcast on Saturday night, said a total of 102 suspected cases of Lassa Fever were stated in 8 local government of the state.
“36 of 79 cases were confirmed with laboratory result, consisting of nine deaths.
“Patients are being managed on the Federal Medical Centre, Owo, while confirmatory test are completed at Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital, Irrua, Edo State.
“At preset, 127 health facility contacts and 308 community contacts were line-indexed in all the affected neighborhood local government at the same time as 30 had finished their observe-up,” Akeredolu said.
The governor disclosed that the government had reactivated Emergency Preparedness and Response Team at country and local government level to incorporate the spread of the ailment.

Akeredolu defined that some Personal Protective Equipment, drugs, and health facility beds had been donated to FMC, Owo, whilst greater nurses have been deployed to the Treatment Centre to aid control of the patients.
