[News] : Akeredolu of APC wins Ondo governorship election

Rotimi Akeredolu of the All Progressives Congress has won the 2016 governorship election in Ondo State.

This follows the results of the Governorship election so far announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC where the All Progressives Congress Candidate is leading his other contenders with a wide margin.

Of the 18 Local Government Areas of the state, results of 17 Local Government Areas have been submitted, out of which Akeredolu is comfortably leading in 14 LGAs.

The Chief Returning Officer, Prof. A. Ambali, who announced a break Sunday morning said they will reconvene at 11am.

Results of the 17 Local Government Areas announced show the following:

APC: 237,812

PDP: 145,367

AD: 104,111

Reacting to the development, the APC candidate, Akeredolu thanked the people of the state for choosing him as the next leader of the state.

“Ondo has decided and I am humbled that my people chose me. Our time to Think Anew and Act Anew has come. Thank You Ondo State,” he tweeted.
