A truck driver, Terkaa Ushir, has allegedly beaten and hacked his wife, Lucy Wasem to death with an axe.
The deceased dad, Daniel Akighir, blamed his child-in-law for murdering his 29-year-old little girl over uncertain residential issues.
Akighir stated: “A week ago Friday, my child-in-law, Mr. Terkaa of Joseph Tia road, Gboko North and his wife (my late little girl) went to my home for advising and settlement over their wedding question, however after a long discourse my daughter declined to come back to her husband home.
“As per her, she has declined to return because of the spouse’s current odd behavior and present threat to her life.
“On Sunday, daughter, Lucy returned from morning mass and let us know – me and her mom – that her husband welcomed her for settlement; we were happy since it was our wish for them rejoin”.
The sad 69-year-old Akighir, in any case, said the couple’s neighbors revealed to him that Terkaa lured Lucy inside and locked the door and started beating her.
“Eyewitness revealed to me that on coming to there (the house), her husband locked her to one room apartment, beat, strangled and axed my daughter to death.
“All endeavors by neighbors to spare daughter demonstrated unsuccessful as the door was locked and after he realized that his wife was dead, he got away through the back window.
“After a few endeavors, the door was forced open just to find the dead body of my daughter Lucy Wasem under the sleeping mattress with severe cuts on her neck and head in the pool of her blood. Two axes and a hammer were found in the room stain with blood”.
The body of Lucy has since been saved at the mortuary of the General Hospital, Gboko.
A representative for the Benue State Police Command, Moses Yamu, report the occurrence to Channels TV yesterday.
Yamu, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, noticed that the order had recouped the weapons used to kill the deceased and that investigation was progressing.
“Without a doubt, we got a report that one Terkaa Ushir purportedly murdered his wife and fled.
“We have recovered the murder weapon however it is not yet clear why he committed the offense.
“In any case, I can guarantee you that the offender will be captured and made to respond in due order regarding the wrongdoing he is reported to have committed,” he said.
