One dead as 34 doctors test positive for COVID-19 in Kano

The Kano State Chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), on Tuesday, said that 34 specialists have tried positive to the novel coronavirus in the state.

The NMA Chairman, Sanusi Bala, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kano that one of the affirmed cases has passed on.

Mr Bala clarified that a large number of the casualties were the specialists working at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) and other private centers in the state.

He said a large number of them were tainted through typical clinical schedules while taking care of unsuspected COVID-19 cases.

He spoke to specialists to give more insurance to specialists through acquisition of individual defensive gear (PPE).

In the mean time, the representative for AKTH, Hauwa Muhammed, disclosed to NAN that the emergency clinic had since secured and conveyed PPE to bleeding edge laborers.

She said the emergency clinic the board had requested all Consultants and Heads of Department to prepare their staff on appropriate utilization of the PPE.
