In a recent critique, former Chelsea midfielder John Mikel Obi didn’t hold back in addressing the performances of five Blues players in the current season.
Following Chelsea’s 2-0 defeat to Everton at Goodison Park over the weekend, Mikel Obi singled out Marc Cucurella, Armando Broja, Enzo Fernandez, Moises Caicedo, and Nicolas Jackson for his observations.
Expressing his dissatisfaction with Chelsea’s overall performance, Mikel Obi didn’t mince words about Cucurella and Broja, asserting that their current form falls short of the expected standard for the club. The retired Nigerian international also shared his reservations about Nicolas Jackson, emphasizing the need for improvement from both Fernandez and Caicedo.
In his latest podcast episode, Mikel Obi remarked, “Cucurella is not meeting the Chelsea standard. We should expect more from Caicedo and Enzo – two promising players who require time to develop. Broja is not operating at the Chelsea level.”
Furthermore, Mikel Obi voiced doubts about Nicolas Jackson, indicating a perceived need for a striker. He suggested, “We need a striker. Victor Osimhen would bring goals to Chelsea when given the opportunity.”
Mikel Obi’s candid assessment provides insight into his concerns and expectations for the mentioned players, emphasizing the need for improvement and potential reinforcements in the Chelsea lineup.
