Singer Simi has shared her personal experiences as well as some of the challenges women go through in the Nigerian entertainment industry, reports.
Born Simisola Kosoko, the 32-year-old shared this in a series of tweets on Friday.
She said female entertainers are constantly pitted against one another to remodel their self-esteem.
“Tbh some of the things I’ve experienced – specifically as a woman – in this industry. Lol. They will try to pit you against other women. Try to redefine ur value. Try to get in your head and remodel your self-esteem. And I have even had it easier than many,” she said.
In another tweet, Simi said it is easier for men in the industry to get away with anything than it is for women.
The ‘Duduke’ singer advised female entertainers trying to get ahead of others in the industry at all cost to watch their steps.
“Ladies trying to get ahead in this industry – be careful the f***s u give, cos many don’t care about u as much as they care about using u. Protect yourself. When it’s you vs the industry, put urself first. Make sure ur material is great and don’t ever stop standing up for urself!” she said.
