Two die, six injured in Ogun tanker crash

Two persons have been confirmed dead, while six others sustained injury when a petrol tanker with registration number, Lagos APP 49 XS, crushed four vehicles.

The accident occurred along Kara bridge in the Ojodu/Akute axis of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway in Ogun State.

The Ogun State Sector Commander of Federal Road Safety Corps, Mr Clement Oladele, confirmed the incident.

Oladele said of the 15 persons were involved in the accident, two persons died, while six others sustained injury.

The state FRSC boss said the multiple accidents, which involved five vehicles, were caused by speed violation.

He said, “The injured victims have been taken to the Accident and Emergency Centre in Ojota, while the obstructions have been  cleared.”

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, also confirmed the incident .

Oyeyemi said two persons lost their lives, while several others sustained injuries.

Also, the Public Relations Officer of the state Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, Babatunde Akinbiyi, said the accident occurred at 6:25AM on Saturday .

Akinbiyi said the affected vehicles were a BMW salon with registration number, Lagos EPE 864 CN; Mitsubishi Lancer (Lagos KRD 935 XD); Toyota Carina (Lagos GGE 883 AT) and an unascertained vehicle.

He said the accident was caused by a runaway driver, who drove against the traffic leading to a  head-on collision.
