Ogun suspends commissioner over allegation of sexual harassment

Ogun State Government has suspended the Commissioner for Environment, Abiodun Abudu-Balogun, pending the investigation concerning a charge of sexual harassment of a 16-year old young lady, Barakat Mayowa Melojuekun.

The State Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department (SCIID) has assumed control over the investigation of the sexual harassment claim against the magistrate.

The investigation concerning the case was first begun by the Area Commander for Ogbere Police Area Command under 24 hours after a sexual harassment video became a web sensation at the end of the week, however, the case has been moved to the SCIID on the guidance of the Police Commissioner Edward Ajogun for intensive dealing with.

A young person, who distinguished herself as Melojuekun Barakat Mayowa, had in a viral video affirmed that Abudu-Balogun explicitly hassled her when she visited him while searching for a job.

In the video, the young lady guaranteed that the previous government administrator petted her breast, however, Abudu-Balogun had discredited the claims, saying “it was an unadulterated political coercion” devised by his political “enemies.”

Police representative Abimbola Oyeyemi, a Deputy Superintendent of Police(DSP), revealed to The Nation that SCIID would assume control over the examination tomorrow (today) from Ogbere Police Area Command for an intensive examination, focusing on that the result would be made known to people in general at the fitting time.

In an assertion in Abeokuta yesterday, the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Tokunbo Talabi, said the suspension was to empower the official to help out the autonomous examination being completed by the police.
