Growing Up In The Early And Mid-2000s, I Grew Up Listening To Virtually All Genre Of Music From HipHop To Apala To Christian And Muslim Gospel, Juju, Fuji Music, U Can Name It, This Is Major Because Of The Settings Of The Society I Was Brought Up Whereby You Can Hear Music Blazing Out Of Different Speakers, Even If You Are Not a Christian Or Muslim, It Is Very Easy To Hear Gospel Music Playing Loud Out Of Your Next Door Neighbor’s Speakers Especially During Weekends.
The Richness In The Content Of Music Back Then Cannot Be In Any Way Compare With What We Have Now. I Wouldn’t Say There Are No Bad Songs Then Too But It Was At a Minimal Level And Not As Rampant As Now, Back Then We Had KEREWA By Zule Zoo, LORI LE By XProject And Some More But Nowadays Most Upcoming Now Feels They Can’t Do Well Or Break Into The Industry Without Saying Or Using Vulgar/Foul Words In Their Songs, Even Some Top Acts Use It As a Way Of Staying Relevant In An Increasingly Competitive Industry.
CAN WE RETRACE OUR STEPS BACK TO THE DAYS OF GOOD MUSIC?
On The Christian Gospel Category, Can We Still Have The Days Of BOLA ARE, DUNNI OLANREWAJU (Opelope Anointing), LARA GEORGE, TOPE ALABI, BABA ARA, And Some More, Although, I’m Not Of Christian Faith I Grew Up Listening To These Christian Gospel Artistes Spirit Filled Songs Back Then… My Question Is WHO ARE THOSE WE HAVE NOW?
The Islamic Gospel Song, We Have The Worse Situation To Attend To. Grew Up Listening To Songs From WASIU SODIQ, LATE WAHEED ARIYO, AIYELOYUN, LABAEKA And so on but we have now are some indecent people hungry for fame and lacking the necessary religious knowledge and creativity and had to switch to acting unnecessary scenes calling it Islamic music, Even LABAEKA And AIYELOYUN Lost It.

On The FUJI Scene, I Grew Up With AYUBA, LATE BARRISTER, KWAM 1, PASUMA, OSUPA and KOLLINGTON But After The Heated Rivalry Between PASUMA And OSUPA Years Back Went Down, We Don’t Even Have Any Young Fuji Artiste Ready To Take Over From Them, I Remember I Once Told SHANKO RASHIDI To Leave Instagram And Focus On The Street Because That’s Where His Fans Are And DESTINY BOY? I can’t place his style of music in any particular genre.
If We Look At APALA, I Don’t Think Anyone Is Doing That Style Of Music After HARUNA ISHOLA, Even TERRY APALA Improvised.
